Adding a car to your policy is easy. If you have just purchased a vehicle, you can email, fax, or text us the title signed off to you, along with a bill of sale or the purchase order from the dealership. The title from the previous owner must be signed and dated in ink. That starts the 30-day clock ticking to get the vehicle registered in your name. If you want "full coverage" (meaning you want to include comprehensive and collision), photos of the car may be required if consumer reports reveal that it has been involved in an accident. Some insurance companies in Oregon require photos even to get Uninsured Motorist Property Damage coverage. That's the coverage where your vehicle is covered if it's not your fault, and the other guy doesn't have insurance, or you don't know who hit you.

The hardest part about adding a vehicle to your policy is often wondering, "How much does adding a car to my policy change the premium?" Answering that question depends on which insurance company you have. Some companies have invested heavily in automating their interactive websites. When we upload the change to your policy, it will instantly predict or calculate the revised premium. Other companies will calculate the premium when they make the change in the system, and we will be able to tell you what the new premium is after they issue the new policy with your new car on it. We will do everything we can to give you an accurate mid-term quote of the changes to your policy. Just remember, often it is only a guess based on what we already know about the other car or cars on your policy.
